I’ve admittedly never tried a single Clinique product before. I’m not all too sure why that is. I think I just had this strange unfounded impression that Clinique was mega-expensive and branded for Mums/Grandmas. I’m now kicking myself for such ignorance after the amazing Clinique event at Brewin Dolphin in Cambridge a few weeks ago. On this glorious Christmas eve, get cosy and settle into my exclusive re-enactment of the event. I’ll also be (as always) revealing the VERY generous Clinique goodie bag. It’s definitely one of the most generous goodie bags I’ve ever received!!
The Clinique ladies; Lisa, Angie and Sophie, were incredibly welcoming upon my arrival. I was promptly passed a glass of prosecco as I walked through the door (all the boxes already ticked for me) and I had a giggle with the members of the Brewin Dolphin and the Clinique team. The Brewin Dolphin team were an absolute pleasure to chat to and I felt at home immediately.
The Clinique Event Display
Before entering the event room there was a beautiful, colourful Clinique walk-way display (that’s a tongue twister!) It was like stepping into a beauty blogger’s heaven! Naturally I then blocked up the entrance for roughly 10 minutes so I could photograph all the wonderful goodies.
I was really pleasantly surprised at the fun, versatile packaging and branding of the Clinique products. I was eating my own words before the event even began, and so the kicking myself began! Due to my incorrect notions of Clinique I was definitely expecting a more… well… Clinical brand of beauty and make up – I have never been more wrong.
Welcome by Brewin Dolphin
Heather Sonnett of Brewin Dolphin kick-started the evenings proceedings by introducing both herself, her team and the Clinique ladies. Witty as ever, her jovial talk immediately set the banterful tone of the evening and had us all giggling into our prosecco glasses.
Delicious canapés including sushi, a variety of wraps, crisps and other nibbles were presented and passed around whilst us guests all mingled. It was such a relaxed, chatty start to a genuinely lovely event.
The Clinique Event Demonstrations
I found myself completely mesmerised as I watched these fantastic beauty and makeup tutorials on the volunteers (guests of the event and subsequently completely unbiased).
Most (almost all of) the products were entirely new to me and I was fascinated by each and every single one.
The first look
Was a gorgeous, yet simple day time look. Fortunately, it wasn’t one of the totally ridiculous, unachievable demonstrations where you leave thinking “That was nice but I’ll never be able to do that myself” or “Ha! Like I’ll ever have time to do that!”.
This look was mainly focused on the cleansing and maintenance of the skin alongside some easy makeup looks for everyday wear.
I was particularly eyeing up the Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush (currently £69 by following this link) This item is definitely going on my wishlist after hearing some amazing things, not only from the Clinique team, but also approving guests of the Clinique event!
The second look
Was more focused on makeup, with some darker eyeshadow and lippy thrown into the mix. Again, I had every confidence that I could go home and (after sobering up a little) definitely recreate this look myself.
My absolute favourite thing about these demonstrations was how interesting and new all the products were to me. It had me asking myself “why on earth have I not used Clinique before now?!”
Keeping with the tone of the evening, Lisa, Angie and Sophie were an absolute barrel of laughs and kept me captivated throughout the whole event.
Each person was given a ticket, which got us the cutest bear ever! My bear is now named Cocoa and is sitting merrily on my Christmas tree this very second.
The other raffle tickets were £10 each and wow the prizes were so beyond amazing! I don’t think a single person in the room didn’t enter.
All proceedings went to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and a whopping £610 was raised! This consisted of £310 on the night and Brewin Dolphin contributed an incredibly generous £300 themselves. This warmed my heart so much. It always feels good to contribute to a really important cause.
Mum and I won an amazing champagne candle and some adorable snowmen chocolates. These will definitely be put to very good use over the Christmas period.
The Goodie Bag
Clinique makeup bag
Do you know what, you can just never have enough make up bags! Especially petite ones like this! I’ve already started using this for essentials in my everyday handbag now. Essentials such as tampons, Vaseline, a compact mirror and some concealer. It’s so much better than it all rolling around the bottom of your germy handbag!
Clinique chubby stick
This was actually used in the Clinique event “look two” demonstration and I was tantalised. So on opening my goodie bag and seeing that I have one I was thrilled. My current blush is a bit bright and actually just a nightmare for my pale, in-desperate-need-of-a-holiday skin tone at the moment. I look forward to being able to actually control the amount of blusher which goes on my cheeks with my new chubby stick.
Clinique moisture surge intense
I’ve said it once, I’ve said it twice, I’ll say it again: you can never have enough moisturiser! Especially little minis like this. They are so perfect for travelling! I’ll definitely be keeping this in my handbag on my next flight to avoid horrible dried out aeroplane skin *shudder*,
Clinique all about eyes
I actually can’t wait to use this one – for some reason my dark circles have gotten ridiculous lately. I usually just slap some Benefit BOING under my eyes and hide it from the world. Perhaps with this product I’ll be able to actually eliminate the problem rather than just hide…
Clinique smart custom repair serum
I’m excited, yet equally sceptical about this one as it seems very vague… On the back it says “Visibly repairs lines and wrinkles, dark spots uneven tone, firms, imparts radiance”. Is it just me or does that seem too good to be true? I mean, if this works then it will be an absolute godsend… We shall see.
Clinique take the day off makeup remover
The name of this product is just brilliant, and I had a little giggle to myself! I’m always forgetting when I’m low on makeup wipes so this will definitely come in handy to tie me over. It’s not the best at travelling so this product will definitely be staying home with me. I’m hoping it will help to keep my skin nice and moisturised overnight!
Clinique high impact mascara
I’m very funny about mascara and only have one absolute favourite (Benefit Roller Lash) but this mascara genuinely ranks very highly with me! The wand is nice and petite which makes it very easy to manoeuvre around and to each and every single lash. The smaller wand also means it is less likely to cover your eyelid in mascara… Something I am ALWAYS doing.
Brewin Dolphin chocolates
I’m not going to lie to you, these chocolates lasted about two seconds after these photos were taken. I loved each and every single one and was very thankful for each second of heaven!
I have every faith that I will use each and every thing inside this goodie bag. I’m so incredibly thrilled at this generous gift and I’m incredibly grateful to Clinique, Palmers department store and Brewin Dolphin for their contributions!
The Clinique Event in partnership with Brewin Dolphin was such an amazing experience, spent with such wonderful, inspiring women. It was definitely a night to be remembered and I want to say a huuuuge thank you to Clinique, Brewin Dolphin and the Palmers department store for organising the whole thing!
