CB12 Mouthwash Review: does it really work?

beauty

Roughly two months ago I requested a recommended teeth whitening product which really works, that doesn’t damage your teeth or cost the world. I was beyond desperate! My teeth aren’t awful but they could probably be at least 50 shades lighter and I have had a horrible stain in between my front two teeth for months. FYI this is probably one of the worst places to get a stain – I’m forever being told I have some food stuck in there. Shortly after my tweet a PR company contacted me and asked if I’d like to try out CB12 mouthwash, and I was more than happy to put it to the test.

About CB12 mouthwash

I’d never heard of this brand before but I was excited to try something and hopeful to see some positive effects. Since receiving this product I’ve seen them everywhere! CB12 mouthwash is now being sold in most drug stores and supermarkets. How handy!

Since then I’m feeling very naive and unworldly. CB12 seems to be a pretty big brand and I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of them until now. Ferne McCann (who I looooooove) is actually spearheading the CB12 campaign as the company ambassador using the hashtag #ShowStoppingConfidence.

After a little research and bedtime reading on their website, it was immediately clear to me that the company are promoting confidence as a motive to use their products. This is incredibly clever as that is the reason most people want to brighten their teeth isn’t it? Speaking for myself I can say that I haaaate my teeth. I know that they aren’t the worst teeth in the world but they have their imperfections and I like to dwell on them. The main reason for my desire to have whiter teeth is so that I can feel just a little bit more confident when I’m forced to smile in my photos.

How to Use

I will refer back to my extremely weird affinity towards instructions, even when they’re on products which are seemly straight forward. Therefore I’m thrilled to announce that CB12 mouthwash have included some instructions on the back, so that whilst you’re gargling you can be in full confidence that you’re doing good.

All you have to do is take a small swig after brushing your teeth in the morning and evening, gargle for 30-60 seconds and spit. Finito. Caput. That’s it!

How did I get on with CB12 mouthwash?

I can’t believe that I actually stuck to it. I have been historically rubbish with mouthwash and other forms of basic dental hygiene… Maybe that’s why I’m looking for teeth whitening products… Woops! Perhaps it was the sheer hope of finding a product which works and finally achieving the dazzling white teeth I’ve always dreamed of. Or maybe it’s because the CB12 mouthwash was so easy to use. Either way, I’ve exceeded my own expectations.

The taste was lovely and minty (to be expected) but not too overpowering; something an individual with incredibly sensitive teeth like myself is grateful for.

This product actually couldn’t have come at a more perfect time! Just a couple of weeks after beginning to use CB12 mouthwash daily, my ever persistent wisdom tooth began to make a third break for it. OUCH. But it’s incredibly important to use mouthwash when this happens to prevent infection. Even better: this mouthwash is alcohol free – also important for not causing me further agony.

The question you’ve all been waiting for: Does CB12 mouthwash work?

I must admit that after four weeks of using this product twice a day I am noticing a change in colour! Maybe the change isn’t too drastic but there is change nonetheless. My teeth have gotten a tad bit whiter and the stain has faded marginally but I’m impatient and it’s been 6 weeks. I’m definitely not blown away by the outcome of CB12 as a whitening product BUT it definitely does work to some extent. Below you can see the comparison between never using CB12 mouthwash before and 6 weeks after using it twice daily.

As you may be able to see, they have grown ever so slightly whiter – but as I say, nothing too dramatic. So it definitely does whiten teeth – just maybe not as quickly as you’d like.

The Price Tag

I was fairly happy with this product until I saw the standard charging price and WOW. For some mouthwash which (slooowly) whitens your teeth, it is fairly pricey!!! Perhaps I’m just being stingy but £15 is a lot… Right?!

Luckily though, Boots currently have CB12 mouthwash on offer down to £9.99 for a 250ml bottle and Amazon are charging only £4.99! Now thaaat is a price which I am much happier to pay.

Overall

If the results were more dramatic I would definitely forgive the price tag and regularly treat my teeth to this product. BUT as it is a little bit too much for me, I can’t see myself regularly buying this, aside from when it’s on offer of course! On the plus side, CB12 mouthwash has finally gotten me into some good dental habits. This has created a proper routine of mouth washing (and teeth of course) and I am very grateful for that much at least!

Hopefully this post has inspired you into switching up your own dental habits. I’m happy with this product, but I still stand by the original pricing being a tad bit too expensive.

  • I love that you can definitely see a change, although £15 is a lot to pay, especially with cheap whitening toothpastes on the market. I like that you can get it cheaper elsewhere though, that would make me a lot more likely to try it 🙂 x

    • Thanks Holly! Yeah it did work but as you say, just a little too pricey. I’m not ashamed to wait around for a good price 🙂 xxx

  • Its good that it hasn’t whitened your teeth slightly but for £15 I’d definitely want to see a bigger change! It’s good that you got to give it a go anyway!
